Voice lessons will focus on developing a strong technical foundation based on breath and alignment. Whatever style you love to sing, learning these fundamental techniques will serve you well! Julia encourages her students to play with different styles of music, and brings her experience and love of theatre, jazz, and early music into the lessons. She is experienced in preparing students for Royal Conservatory of Music exams, auditions, and performances, and believes that anyone can sing with a little practice and guidance!

Voice Lessons

Piano lessons will focus on developing a fundamental understanding of music theory and how it relates to the piano. Julia grew up participating in the Royal Conservatory of Music piano exams, and is experienced in preparing students for exams and performances. She places a strong emphasis on using the piano skills a student has and helping them to learn what interests them! Julia also encourages students to experiment and play with improvisation, believing that it is an invaluable skill every musician should have.

Julia is a member of NATS and is in the process of becoming an RCM certified teacher.

30 Minutes

A good amount of time for the younger beginner! 15 minute focus on technique/theory/ear training skills, and the other 15 minute focus is on repertoire.

For a Voice/Piano split lesson, 15 minutes on voice and 15 on piano.

45 Minutes

Great for students who want to spend a bit of extra time on both technique and repertoire, but not ready for a full hour.

Also a good option for students interested in taking up an additional instrument as well. 30 minute focus on one topic and 15 minute focus on the other.
